Italian
Center of
the
West
The Center is staffed by volunteers and it is advisable to call ahead at 801-364-8259 before visiting. The Center has 800 square feet of space that is available for private meetings, receptions, or other social events, on a reservation basis. A big screen TV with video/DVD players and satellite access to Italian state TV station, RAI International, is available for use. Onsite media includes a reading library, movies, magazines and maps. Through an arrangement with the Catholic Diocese of Torino, Italy, youths over 18 years old can work in a supervisory program at a diocese school for children in return for room and board at the school. The time commitment is anywhere from several weeks to two months. Youths do not have to be of the Roman Catholic faith to participate. Three regulation bocce ball courts are located at the northwest corner of Pioneer Park. You may borrow bocce sets from Tony Caputo’s Deli. Are you planning a trip to Italy or wanting to brush up on your Italian? The Center periodically offers Italian language classes to the public and can arrange private tutoring. Call or email us for more information.
